GLASS LANTERNS

These beautiful handcrafted lanterns from tessera are made in Turkey.  They can be used as candle holders or wired for electrical lighting and are made of blown glass and brass and copper filigree.  Love, love.

JANET HILL

I love these sweet little paintings by Janet Hill Studio.  Janet lives in Stratford, Ontario, Canada and has work featured in North America, Asia, Europe and Australia.  She's quite the little artist!

This little company makes some of the most precious wall decals I've ever seen. You should definitely check out their full collection: mae: charmed i'm sure.

I HEART TEACUPS

Over the years I have acquired a mini collection of teacups.  It wasn't my intention at first, but then I realized how much I loved them.  Who wouldn't want to drink out of something so sweet and beautifully detailed?

ROAD TRIP: DAY 3

Today was another long driving day, Oklahoma City to Santa Fe. We made a ton of touristy stops and saw some pretty interesting things along the way. These were my favorites.

On our way out of Oklahoma City, we saw this truck carrying a bunch of beams with hearts drawn on them. I'm not sure why, but I love it.

The first Phillip's 66 Station in Texas. It was built in the 1920s and was in operation for over 50 years.

The Devil's Rope Museum: a tribute to barbed wire. Located in McLean, Texas.

"Miniature Sad Iron Collection" housed at the Devil's Rope Museum

Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo, Texas

I haven't seen a rainbow in years. I got real excited.

Delicious sopapaillas from Tomasita's Mexican Restaurant in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

ROAD TRIP: DAY 2

Today was a rainy day in Oklahoma City. Since we had an extra day in the city, we decided to go visit the Oklahoma City National Memorial & Museum. I have to say it couldn't have been a more fitting day to experience this moving tribute to the lives lost that day.

The entrance to the memorial.

9:01 { "the innocence of the city before the attack" }

The Reflecting Pool

The Field of Empty Chairs { each of the 168 chairs symbolize a life lost }

A portion of the existing building.

9:03 { "the moment we were changed forever" }

The Fence { has held more than 60,000 items }

The Children's Area { illustrated tiles sent from children across America }

The Survivor Tree { "a profound symbol of human resilience" }

ROAD TRIP: DAY 1

So we had a pretty long day today, Birmingham to Oklahoma City.  12 hours...foof.  We made a few stops along the way to see the sights but arrived in plenty of time to grab a yummy beer at a cool pub downtown.

First stop, Elvis' birthplace in Tupelo, Mississippi. That teeny white house is it.

A little lunch in Memphis at Tops Bar-B-Q. Delicious.

Second stop, the "little rock" in Little Rock, Arkansas. Yes, folks. That's it.

This bridge was built on the "little rock". I was kind of obsessed with it.

More of the bridge.

Oh, and then there was a Popeye statue in Alma, Arkansas about 8 miles from the border.

Pretty sunset.

TapWerks pub in downtown Oklahoma City. They have 212 beers on tap!  We tried some local brews, of course. They were very yummy and the folks here were so sweet. A fun fact about TapWerks, it's the oldest building in the city. It used to be a speakeasy and at one time an orphanage. The bartender told us some fun ghost stories about the old place. Definitely worth the stop if you're ever in the area.

  Stay posted for more pics and sights along the way!

CRAFT TIME

When my roommate tied the knot last November, I decided to turn the extra room into a craft room.  I've dreamed of retiring my old cramped corner for a nice spacious place to do all my crafting for quite some time.  I would drool over the great spaces featured on design*sponge and apartment therapy in hopes to one day have a great space of my own.  It's finally coming together but still needs a few finishing touches.  Here are a few of the photos I saved as inspiration for my dream room.
