I just found this adorable shop, Spiro Creations. They are a husband and wife duo that handmake all of their products. How adorable is that? I have to say the little, yellow ballet flats are my favorite!
It's pretty insane how many creative people can live in one little city. This is the first of a regular blog post called LOCALS which will feature the talent here in Birmingham. This week's feature is the fabulous Miss Claire Cormany. You may know her from her graphic design contributions to Flower and Coastal Living Magazine or her days as leading lady of Kiss Me at the Gate. Musician, designer, fashionista, or painter: Claire is a burst of fresh air to the art community in Birmingham. Her current passion is her painting. Her abstract landscape paintings have a unique quality while being universally appealing. You can see Claire's work in person this weekend at Art Walk 2010. She will be located at the Rogue Tavern parking lot, 2312 2nd Avenue North. Go check her out!
My favorite time of year is upon us: boot season! It's my mission every year to find a great boot for the season. The lace-up booty is the boot this year. They are so casual and comfy. No silly heels to slow you down. I purchased a great pair at the beginning of spring and have been dying to wear them. Hopefully the dreadful heat will subside soon so that I can whip them out. Happy hunting for your perfect pair.
I am amazed by the art of laser cutting. The intricate detailing is so crisp and feminine. You see it almost everywhere these days, from fashion textiles to decorations for the home. These were a few of my favorite finds.
